RMS Probit J5 Pen Bitumen

Probit J5 Bitumen is a hot poured 50 – 70 penetration paving grade bitumen for use on vertical  and horizontal asphalt pavement joints as specified in BS 594987, SHW 700 series and 900  series. Conforms to BS EN 12591:2009 Bitumen and bituminous binders - Framework for  specifying paving grade bitumens.

Application

All surfaces to be treated must be thoroughly clean, dry and free from dust and oil spillage. Probit  J5 is applied hot (180°C maximum) at approximately the following theoretical rate:- 10mm wide x 2.5mm deep joint – 0.025kg / linear meter. 

Other widths and thickness’s can be calculated pro-rata. 

It is recommended that a melting pre-heater with an indirect heating system is used for heating  Probit J5. The 25kg metal kegs are not considered suitable for placing on or over direct sources  of heat. Failure to prevent this may result in fire and serious injury.

Storage

Under good storage conditions, solidified Probit J5 Pen Bitumen may be stored indefinitely.
