Probit Colour Neutral Cold Joint Paint is a cold applied, anionic joint sealant based on a synthetic binder, which is specially formulated for use on vertical and horizontal joint faces on coloured asphalt and macadam surfaces where an aesthetically pleasing joint is required. This material meets the guide for specification in Clause NG 6.5(2) of Appendix NG 6 of the Highways, Roads and Street Works Act 1991. Probit Colour Neutral Cold Joint Paint is manufactured as a cream emulsion, enabling it to be pigmented to match the coloured asphalt or macadam surface it is being used to seal if required.
All surfaces to be sealed must be clean and free from dust and foreign matter. Stir well before use. Apply with a dampened soft bristle brush uniformly as a thin coat. Jobling Purser’s Longerlife Tar Brush is ideal for this. Theoretical coverage on a 40mm deep joint is 1kg of Probit Colour Neutral Cold Joint Paint per 15 linear meters pro-rated for other depths. Application rates will also vary depending upon the size the porosity and texture of the joint. Probit Colour Neutral Cold Joint Paint is a water based product and is only resistant to rain when it has fully set – water will attack the un-dried film. Drying time depending on ambient weather conditions will be normally 30 – 45 minutes.
Application
All application equipment should be clean and free from bitumen to avoid colour contamination of the neutral coloured emulsion. Avoid application when rain is imminent,as the material is only resistant to rain when it has fully dried.
Wash residual material off with cold water before it has dried. Remove any dried film with Jobling Purser’s Armaclean Eco Plus or Proclean bitumen cleaner.
Storage
Protect from frost when not in use. Keep container tightly closed. When stored correctly and left unopened, Probit Colour Neutral Cold Joint Paint has a shelf life of 6 months.
