Probit Coldpave is a combination of bitumen emulsion and fine aggregates offering a ready to use, high quality economic slurry seal which has been formulated for hand applications. It is ideally used to seal all lightly trafficked bituminous surfaces which are beginning to fret and will seal, protect and prolong the life of bituminous and concrete surfaces whilst also improving skid resistance and enhancing the general surface appearance. Probit Coldpave can be used on areas such as footways, driveways, tennis courts, cycle tracks, car parks, play areas, central reservations, pre patching prior to surface dressing and for sealing of re-instatement patches and trenches. The coverage of Probit Coldpave being up to 10m² per 25kg although it should be noted the spread rate will depend upon the quality of the existing surface.
Application
All surfaces must be clean, free from weeds, standing water and oily patches. The surface should be well swept with a yard broom to remove any old chippings etc. Any potholes should be filled with Jobling Purser’s Probit Delayed set macadam and any narrow cracks with a suitable Jobling Purser jointing compound. Probit Coldpave should be kneaded in the bag before use to ensure a well emulsified product. The surface, if absorbent should be pre-dampened.
Probit Coldpave should then be applied to the surface with a notched squeegee to obtain an even coverage. Where more than one coat is required, each individual coat should be allowed to dry before the application of subsequent coats. The surface can be finished off with a dampened soft brush to provide the finished surface texture. Avoid excessive working with the brush when spreading in order to avoid aggregate separation. A 2–3 man crew can achieve coverage of up to 1000m² per day dependent upon conditions and grade being applied. Probit Coldpave should be applied between March and September to ensure good drying conditions. Cold, wet and or humid conditions will delay the setting time. At 20°C Probit Coldpave should be able to withstand foot traffic after approximately 2 - 4 hours.
All tools can be cleaned with water or if Probit Coldpave has dried, Jobling Purser’s Armaclean Eco Plus can be used.
Probit Coldpave can also be applied to concrete surfaces, subject to the following conditions:-
• The concrete surface is at least 28 days old, or has a moisture content of less than 5%. • The concrete is in sound condition, and any loose material, latence, oil, grease, road salt or material that may impair adhesion to the concrete is removed by appropriate means. • The concrete surface is primed with a K1-40 type bitumen emulsion tack coat, diluted 50% with water, and applied at a rate of 0.3 – 0.4 litres/M²
• The Probit Coldpave should then be applied as the method for bituminous surfaces above.
Storage
Protect from Frost. Under suitable storage conditions and with the containers being left in an unopened condition Probit Coldpave can be stored for use within 6 months.
